Entry Fee

The SPU is located in a highly remote area with no nearby lodges or campsites. Therefore, our entry fee is designed as an all-inclusive package.

The entry fee includes:

  • Race
  • All meals (pre-race dinner, breakfast, lunch, dinner and pre-race snacks and drinks)
  • Drinking water
  • Campsite and all campsite facilities
  • Parking

The entry fee doesn't include

  • Tents
  • Transportation to the race camp
  • Accommodation or facilities for family, friends, or any other supporters joining you.

Medical Health Insurance

Please note; being very fit and healthy is critical to you safely attempting to complete the Salt Pans Ultra Marathon. To ensure your safety and provide top medical care, we require that you share all pertinent medical information, including pre-existing conditions, medications, allergies and so on. We might also request a medical certificate and may conduct on-site medical assessments. Your safety is our top priority.

Any undisclosed medical conditions cannot be held against the organizers for any associated risks or consequences.

We recommend runners consider ITRA International Running Insurance if they are not covered by their current medical or travel insurance to run in an international ultra trail event.

Medical Insurance

International runners must have medical insurance that covers international ultra running to compete in the SPU.
Batswana runners are covered by Government healthcare so don’t require private medical insurance but it is strongly recommended.

Due to the remote location we have limited resources so we will accept no more than 3 supporters per runner.
The supporter fee includes all meals, drinking water, all campsite facilities (incl. toilet and showers), parking and access to the campsite.

You can conveniently reach the race village from either Gaborone or Maun International Airports using our road transfer services.

Please note that the arrival time at the airport on Sunday may vary due to traffic. We recommend not booking same-day flights for these transfers.

Training

Customized Training Program for the SPU - P 1250 / 20 weeks (€ 85)

We offer a customised training program and coaching for the 50KM and 100Km Salt Pans Ultra Marathon.

The program is tailored to the special conditions and requirements of the Salt Pans Ultra. The training is based on a 20 week program which we provide through Training Peaks. The standard Training Peaks account is free of charge for athletes.

Rules, Terms and Conditions

Rules of Participation

By registering for the Salt Pans Ultra, I willingly accept the promotional use of my name, photograph, and likeness. I acknowledge and release the event organisers, their agents, volunteers, and affiliated companies from liability for any injuries or losses. I affirm my physical readiness and that I have provided accurate information. I understand that the medical staff may withdraw me if necessary. In the event of a runner's withdrawal, race entry may be transferred to another runner for the same or shorter distance, with no refunds for downgrades. Participant data is stored electronically but not shared beyond the event. I willingly agree to these terms by signing below.

Please read carefully before you enter

Due to the extreme conditions on the Salt Pans, it's crucial to carefully review the compulsory equipment requirements, which may be checked at registration. Runners must have a GPS device with an uploaded GPX route matching their race distance.
Please note that mobile phones cannot be used for navigation. Runners must ensure they are familiar with how to use their navigation devices.
